Description

This is a M1905 bayonet and was used with the US M1917 Enfield .30 caliber rifle, as well as with the US trench shotguns. The blade is 16" inches long. The bayonet has a maker marked with "SA", this is the maker mark for the legendary arms manufacturer SPRINGFIELD and dated "1918". On the left side is the ordnance stamp showing the ordinance shell and flame "The Flaming Bomb" and with "1918", on the right side is marked "US" and "877689". The scabbard is a model 1905  first type Rawhide over wood. Has the modified first type double hook attachment, the hook has been broken off.

The M1905 bayonet was used first during World War I by American soldiers on the Western Front. Used primarily for the M1917 rifle the M1905 bayonet was fitted for use on all the "trench" shotguns as well. This is great original WWI bayonet, not many survived with the leather scabbard.
