- U.S. WWI 3rd Army Pilot-
THIS IS A REAL NICE RARE GROUPING - In great used condition
WWI 3rd Army Pilot, Officers Grouping (2d Lieutenant), all original period correct, good example of a VERY FINE Officer Uniform. Grouping includes officers brown/beige aviation summer tunic with 3rd Army patch on left arm. The pilot has a full wing regulation bullion wing (Regular Army, not reservist) The bullion regulation full wing patch is a very rare patch, as shown in J. Duncan Campbell's book "Aviation and Insignia of the United States Army 1913-1946 and Terry Morris's book "United States Army Air Service Wings, Badges-Uniforms and Insignia 1913-1918. This jacket also has his two tone 2nd lieutenant bars on his shoulders. His collar officer wing devices are superb and a great example of a correct regulation for an officers uniform. His service chevron on left sleeve. His ribbon bar with Distinction Service Cross, WWI Victory w/5 Stars and a Croix De Guerre with Palm. His officer cap with device in super condition. His matching trousers complete. His Sam Brown officers belt, worn by many officers overseas. This is most likely the finest full pilot uniform with star above the wings you will ever see or find.
This is a fantastic complete hard to find U.S. Army Officer's Pilot uniform grouping. Part of the 3rd Army this pilot saw lots of action and indicated by his service bar. It is very hard to find a WWI Army Air Corps Uniform in good condition, and even harder to find a high quality complete grouping like this. This grouping would make a great addition to any fine collection or museum. - SOLD -
