Description

Lt. Jenner flew P-38 Lightning fighters in the South Pacific as a member of the 5th Army Air Force, 80th Fighter Squadron, 8th fighter Group known as "The Headhunters". In his time as a pilot, he was credited for shooting down four Japanese plans, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Metal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. Five photographs included with this set. Photographs of his unit standing in front of a sign that reads "Home of the Head Hunters", Lt. Vernon Jenner outside the 80th fighter squadron, 8th fighter group headquarters, 8th fighters group, 8th fighter squadron, (Lt Jenner is third row, second from left) and again Lt. Jenner in front of his P-38 Lightning fighter on May 15, 1944 Great collection from a great American hero of World War II 

This grouping came out of a prestigious museum back east when they sold out their entire collection, The Veterans Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
